Canadian pianist and singer-songwriter Michelle Lynne announces the release of her highly anticipated debut album, One Step at a Time - a crossover album connecting the themes of healing and transformation.

A Story of Healing - Told Through Music

Rooted in Michelle’s own experience of working through a difficult season of life, One Step at a Time explores themes of healing, nature and water, symbolizing refreshment, rebirth, cleansing and a new season. Written and recorded over several years, the project became a vessel for processing emotions, and choosing authenticity over perfection.

“These songs were birthed out of necessity,” Michelle shares. “I wrote them to understand what I was going through. Music has always been healing for me, and I wanted this album to become that kind of space for others to sit with themselves and come to a place of stillness.”

A Cross-Genre Artistic Statement

For years, Michelle questioned which artistic identity she would present first - trained as a classical pianist with a Masters degree from the University of Montreal, it was logical to record a purely classical album. However, to present her true and whole artistic self required embraced the singer-songwriter side, and In a bold departure from status quo, One Step at a Time embraces both.

The album merges her classical background with contemporary songwriting, creating a unique fusion of lyrical storytelling, emotional depth, orchestral colors, and pianistic virtuosity. The result is a sound that feels at once intimate and quickly creates a strong connection with listeners, leaving an impression.

Key Moments on the Album

One of the emotional pillars of the album is “In the In-Between,” a track written for the season of life where you’ve already walked through the valley, but haven’t yet seen what’s on the other side. The song captures the quiet courage required to keep going, even when the way forward feels uncertain, and believing for a better future.

The title track “Hold On” opens the album with a message of endurance and compassion, reflecting the core narrative that runs throughout: the decision to face hardship with honesty and hope.

These songs were birthed out of necessity, I wrote them to understand what I was going through. Music has always been healing for me, and I wanted this album to become a kind of space for others to sit with themselves and come to a place of inner stillness.

Recorded with Intention and Community Support

One Step at a Time was brought to life with pop producer August Green, whose presence, encouragement, and belief in Michelle’s raw first song drafts helped her overcome years of perfectionism and finally step into her full creative voice.

The classical pieces were recorded at Jardin Musical in Brussels with an exceptional team who made the process “comfortable, high-quality, and - surprisingly - fun.”

The project was also made possible by a dedicated community of long-term supporters who contributed to her crowdfunding campaign. “They believed in me long before I had an album to show,” Lynne says. “Their encouragement and support gave me the courage to keep going.”

An Artist Expanding What a Classical Career Can Be
